Start The Week Strong with Productivity Booster Strategies

The world we are living in now is moving at a faster pace, whether we like it or not. This requires constant adaptation and redefinition of productivity. Being productive is no longer about ticking more boxes or doing more things; it is about getting the right things done efficiently. Prioritization and organization are required to achieve it. Here are some simple ways on how to get it done:

1. Start Your Day with a Plan

You can take 5 minutes in the morning – while sipping your first coffee – to list your priorities for the day. What I normally do is actually picture my day and let my imagination skim through the day. Once I acknowledge the tasks that I need to accomplish, I will start writing them down. Writing is always my best way to declutter my mind. It’s like my conscious self will only admit the tasks once they are written down.

Oh, you can always use the Weekly Priority List from our Balanced Hive Planner to do it :)

2. Highlight the Right Task

I know you will start asking, ‘How do I know which one is the right task?’ My easy answer will be: the task that will bring the greatest impact to you. There is no template answer for everyone, and things that you consider impactful today may not be as impactful tomorrow. But hey! One step at a time, do what is right and keep moving forward.

3. Do Not Juggle Between Tasks!

A lot of people saying they are good with multi-tasking, but I don’t think so. You can only multi-task once you are too good on something (e.g. talking) so your brain can do autopilot mode while focusing on something else.

Instead of jumping between tasks, try time blocking by assigning specific time slots for specific tasks. This will improve your focus and bring more structure to your work.

4. Take Meaningful Breaks

Productivity is not always about working non-stop. Taking a 5-minute break every 25 minutes of work is acceptable so you can maintain your energy and efficiency. One small piece of advice: don’t spend that 5 minutes on social media!

5. Reflect and Adjust

At the end of the day, try to take a moment to reflect. This moment of reflection normally happens for me in a hot shower. So right after I finish my shower, I normally grab my small notebook and write down any messages of improvement for my tomorrow’s self.

Those little strategies work for me, making me feel like I have more control over my time and my priorities. In the end, productivity is more like a marathon, where you need to optimize your energy to carry on. You define your finish line, but make sure you don’t break down before you reach the finish line.
